Xocai Healthy Chocolate Atlanta Raises Money for CURE Childhood Cancer through Lauren’s Run

You CAN make a difference!

Maybe your life hasn’t been affected by childhood cancer yet.  I hope not.  Chances are good though that you will, before too long, know someone who is.  Maybe it was your niece, a friend at school, maybe you are a childhood cancer survivor, or God-forbid your own child has received this dreaded diagnosis.

Lauren’s Run, a Fun Run honoring the memory of Lauren Zagoria and Lauren Kochman, raises money for CURE Childhood Cancer‘s funding of pediatric cancer research.  The 18th Annual Lauren’s Run will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Concourse Office Park (at I-285 and Peachtree Dunwoody Road).  This 5k, 2k and tot trot is an opportunity for the community to come together to support kids with cancer and their families and to fight back against childhood cancer.

The Xocai Atlanta Family is putting together a team – so come walk or run with us and help us raise funds to further life-saving pediatric cancer research.  We call this XoService (“Show Service”)!  You don’t have to eat Healthy Chocolate to join us!

There is also the CURE Childhood Cancer Annual Picnic right afterwards at 10:30 with inflatables and games – so bring your whole family.

Questions or if you want to participate with us that day, contact Caroline King at 404-966-2078.

Night of Hope Gala for ALS Research

Wes Bobbitt, Libby Patrick, Caroline King & Sandra Bobbitt

Several of our Xocai Atlanta (and Beyond) team were at the ALS Night of Hope Gala last night.  What a fun event raising money and awareness for ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  My dear friend and business partner, Libby Patrick, who lost her brother Bill Sims to ALS in July 2007, carries the torch to find a cure for this debilitating and eventually fatal disease.  Libby and her family promised Bill before he died that they would do everything in their power to find a cure for what medical professionals call the most cruel and ruthless disease on Earth.  Libby and her sister Sherri Hofherr who were on the gala committee, their parents Bill and Betty Sims, as well as Libby’s husband Carl, were all at the event last night.

Some of the Xocai Atlanta (and Beyond) team who were also supporting this important night of fundraising for ALS, were Eileen & Tom Rosencrants, Wes & Sandra Bobbitt (in from Charlotte, NC), and Jim & Caroline King.

The evening’s speakers included Russ Spencer as the Emcee, Bill & Rebecca Leffler, Duane Morrow, and Jordan Ennis.  Ed Tessaro was given the “Steve Ennis Hope Award” and gave an inspiring message about his personal fight with ALS.  Ariana Savalas flew in from Los Angeles to serenade us like an angel with Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the Black Eyed Peas.

There was much dancing and singing all night long too.  Basically, this was a super fun, well-run event that raised a lot of money for ALS research!

Chocolate for Children Was a Huge Success

Xocai Atlanta Supports CURE Childhood Cancer

We had fun raising money last night at our Chocolate for Children fundraiser in Atlanta, GA benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer.  What a night!

Dawn Stark with CURE Childhood Cancer spoke about the mission of the organization and explained to us that only 2% of federal research money is directed toward pediatric cancer researchPat King shared his story about his sweet daughter, Merrill King, who lost her battle with cancer the second time around.  He talked about not only how important the research is that CURE helps to fund, but also how they help to take care of the families as they walk through their ordeals with childhood cancerLibby Patrick, a childhood cancer survivor, shared about her passion to help people stay healthy at the cellular level by telling them about high antioxidant Healthy Chocolate.

We had both a live and silent auction that were a huge success, thanks to very generous people who supported the event.  Some of the hits of the live auction were a “Winter Wonderland in Montana” luxury get-away for 5 days, a cottage in St. Simons over Memorial Day weekend, a full infertility workup from Servy Massey Fertility Institute, and magnum of CakeBread wine and Piper-Heidsieck champagne.  The silent auction ended up having some fierce bidding wars and featured art by Betsy Cozine, Bruce Edelstein, Patrick Dennis, and others; jewelry & accessories from Pearlworks by Sandy Jones and Sassy Scarves; consultation with Dr. Maureen Vellia; a portrait sitting with Margie Erdoes Photography; and a theater and pamper package (Atlanta Symphony tickets, gift certificate to Gallery Cafe & a free haircut at Maria Heckter Salon).

Thank you to everyone who came to support our first annual Chocolate for Children.  I also want to especially thank Kim and Joseph Kawach for opening their restaurant Basil’s and being so generous with their amazing Mediterranean food and wine.

XoService Charitable Cause Launched by MXI Corp In Atlanta Georgia

Atlanta XoService Charity XoService (pronounced ‘show-service’), a new Xocai Charitable Cause, was launched this month by MXI Corp with a new website and much fanfare!

Mxi Corp is proud to take the lead in Atlanta Georgia and we’ve done it again! Instead of setting up a fund to receive donated monies, Xocai wants you to give… YOUR TIME!

Anyone can give money – that’s easy and less hands on. With XoService, your time and personality are involved and your Xocai significance is felt by those around you!

Andrew Brooks introduced XoService at this year’s Xocai convention with a very powerful message:

“We do not have to create a foundation to do what is right!”

I encourage you to check out the new XoService website, blog and project submission pages. Be sure to scroll down to the CURE Childhood Cancer Fun Run with the XoAtlanta Team!  Our Atlanta team is out in front.  We’ve created an online humanitarian community where you can share your XoService stories and photos. Team MXI Corp did the first two projects, and we are looking forward to seeing many more from our teams!

XoService means adding value to your Life; the XoService Cause is a creative yet inspired way for our Atlanta Georgia and international Xocai Healthy Chocolate Family and others to give back to our local communities. It doesn’t take a natural catastrophe to find a need in 2011; a need exists in your own backyard. We sincerely feel that service is a responsibility.

We ask not for your money, but that you sacrifice your time in the service of others by joining our Army of MXI Corp Healthy Chocolate Volunteers!

XoService is simple:

  1. Create a team,
  2. Set a date, and
  3. Do some good!

Ready to join the XoService cause? We can all help! Give me a call at 404-966-2078 and I’ll tell you all about it!
